Transmutations
March 12 – April 18

Lewis Hyde once wrote "The elements of chance lie at the crossroads between two seemingly unrelated worlds, and through that intersection all new life is born." Jamin J. Rollin's recently completed MFA thesis exhibit, Transmutations, springs forth from that intersection. Her alchemical experiments, etched, printed or painted on copper and brass plates, serve as reflections of the human tendency to rationalize daily life into codes, symbols, morals and standards. Transmutations will run from March 12th until April 18th with an opening reception Friday, March 12th from 6 - 9 pm. The Russell Gallery is located in Building 3 of the Russell Industrial Center, 1600 Clay Ave Detroit, MI 48211.
Nature v. Nurture
January 15 – February 21

The Russell Gallery is proud to present Nature v. Nurture, new paintings by Alana Carlson. Carlson's moody compositions in oil capture unique individual expressions, drawing the viewer into an organic, open ended story that ultimately leads us to reconsider what it is to be human. Show runs from Friday, January 15th to Sunday, February 21st. Opening reception is on Friday January 15th from 6 - 9 p.m. with live music by Jura. The Russell Gallery is located on the first floor of building 3 in the Russell Industrial Center, 1600 Clay Ave, Detroit, MI 48211. Follow signs for the Russell Bazaar.
